The downpour held off as our annual Golf Fun Day unfolded at the Summerside Golf Club on Friday June 3rd. This was the 20th anniversary of the 9-hole, best ball scramble and the 98 golfers in attendance were in high spirits as they rounded the course, taking time at each tee to participate in a fun activity such as putting with a lacrosse stick or competing in a “lobster toss”. With so many golf tournaments now taking place during the summer months, the Chamber’s longstanding fundraiser was repositioned three years ago to make it more inclusive.
“Non-golfers can be comfortable coming out to enjoy an afternoon with other members of the business community”, said Executive Director Jane Sharpe. “But for those whose first priority is serious golf, there’s still lots of competitive spirit.”
This year’s event was a little different than usual; with the golf course under construction, the awards presentation afterward was conducted in a tent and catering was provided by The Galley by Chef Norman. Prizes were awarded for Longest Drive, Closest to the Hole, Closest to the Line, Most Honest and Best Dressed.
Our very sincere thanks to our many sponsors including event sponsor Eastlink Business, prize donors and volunteers who contributed to make the day a good one.
