Shopping Local during the Pandemic: Atlantic Impressions

Over the past year, we’ve seen a growing tide of support for local businesses across Atlantic Canada. From December 20, 2021 through January 20, 2022 we consulted with the Atlantic IMPRESSIONS community and Atlantic Canadians to get their perspective of what they think about shopping local.

The following provides the key insights provided by the more than 7,300 respondents to the pan-Atlantic survey. Here’s what they told us…

  • 72% shop local more than they did 6 months ago.
  • 69% report that Shop Local campaigns increased their awareness of local businesses.
  • 79% say they are more aware of the importance of supporting local businesses compared to 6 months ago, and a similar number make more of an effort to shop local now than they did 6 months ago.00000
  • 90% have shopped locally in the past 3 months.
  • 86% think shopping local is more important since the pandemic.
