1. What is your name and how long have you been living and working in Summerside?

2. What was your journey to landing as a Service Advisor for A1 Auto Sales?

Ever since I was a teenager I always enjoyed being around cars. My buddies and I passed the time by working on each others rigs, or just going for a recreational drive. It’s great working in an industry that I am also passionate about. I also take pride in providing people with excellent customer service, and it brings joy to me seeing people leaving with their car back in healthy condition.

3. Tell us one of your most memorable experiences while working in Summerside?

My favorite work memories mostly happen in the Summertime! Summerside has a very vibrant classic car scene, and it always excites me seeing all of these machines from a different era come back out of hibernation! My favorite memory was having the opportunity to get to take the oldest Vehicle I’ve ever driven out for a quick ride; a 1955 Chevrolet 3100 Pick up truck, which was owned by one of my favorite regular customers.

4. What would be a fun fact that most people wouldn’t know about working for A1 Auto Sales?

A lot of people don’t realize that A1 Auto is a Locally owned business that has grown from humble beginnings. The owner and my boss, Ridvan, came to Canada as a refugee in the late 90s. He has made a name for himself by originally starting car sales as a part-time passion project while still working a fulltime job, and has since evolved into Summerside’s largest used car inventory!

5. What is the work culture like at A1 Auto Sales?

We like to stay light hearted at work. The auto service industry is a very fast paced work environment, but we still get to have fun throughout the day! My coworkers and I lighten up our day with some good old sense of humor. They say laughter is the best medicine!

6. Why did you choose Summerside to live and work? 

7. What unique opportunities or challenges have you encountered while living and working in Summerside?

I enjoy the tight-knit sense of  community in Summerside. It’s hard to go anywhere without seeing a familiar, friendly face. I like this because there’s always an opportunity to help your community and the people in it, and it works the other way around too, because there’s always an eager helping hand around!

8. If someone was thinking about moving to live and work in Summerside, what advice would you give them?

I would tell them to try not to be shy! Summerside has a lot of positive experiences to be had if you come in with an open mind, and is very welcoming to folks of all kinds of different backgrounds. It’s a great community to be involved in.
