1. What is your name and name of the business?
My name is Terry Arsenault and my business is Terry Maids.
2. How long has your business been operating, and how long has it been operating in the Greater Summerside area?
Our business has been operating for 15 years, and we’ve been part of the Chamber for 3.
3. What inspired you to start this business, and what made you choose your location?
I wanted to be independent, to be my own boss. I wanted to make a change in my life. I wanted to show my children that no matter the hard times, and if it feel like your stuck in it, that with hard work you will succeed.
4. Can you tell me about your business and what products/services you offer?
We have a janitorial and construction cleaning company we provide the best services. We also provide reliability, which is very important. We do a multitude of cleaning from deep, clean to move in, move out, carpet cleaning, stripping floors, and waxing floors.
5. How has the local community responded to your business?
We are very blessed to have the support of Summerside, Prince Edward Island. This is where I started my company, and the support from our commercial locations is spectacular.
6. What do you love most about being a business owner in the Greater Summerside area?
I am so grateful that I have reached out to this amazing company. The staff of the Greater Summerside Chamber of Commerce go above and beyond. They definitely make you feel like a member of their family.
7. Are there any specific challenges or advantages to running a business in the Greater Summerside area?
There’s many challenges and also many advantages. There’s lots of advantages for lots of growth in Summerside, so it keeps my doors open. We work with a lot of construction companies from PEI to Moncton and Halifax.
8. Can you share a success story or a memorable experience related to your business in the Greater Summerside area?
Being recognized by the P.E.I. government and contracted to sanitize for our seniors through the entire COVID-19 pandemic. It was very fulfilling, and there was never a lock down on any of the units, from Alberton, Saint Lewis, O’Leary, and all the units in Summerside.
9. What advice would you give to someone looking to start a business, and why should they choose the Greater Summerside area?
Never give up, and if a door closes then open another one. Believe in yourself. And if time get hard, keep pushing though; no one wants this more than you. Like any business owners, there are days where you feel like closing up shop. My advice would be to analyze the problem at hand, adapt to it, overcome it and move forward.
