Arti Deonarine. PEI Roti

 

2. How long has your business been operating, and how long has it been operating in the Greater Summerside area?

Established in 2022.

 

3. Can you tell me about your business and what products/services you offer?

PEI Roti is a takeout restaurant specializing in Caribbean and Indian cuisine.

 

4. What inspired you to start this business, and what made you choose your location?

This is our retirement pet project and we realized that Summerside needed additional cuisine with a difference. The location selection was based on traffic and availability.

 

5. How has the local community responded to your business?

Wow! Our community is the best! We have been so very fortunate to have the ongoing support of our dear Islanders.

 

6. What do you love most about being a business owner in the Greater Summerside area?

Our customers! We also donate 100% of tips to local causes, we love giving back.

 

7. Are there any specific challenges or advantages to running a business?

Yes – Challenges :  it would be great to get the support, by means of grants, from government offices.

 

8. What are your plans for the future of your business in the Greater Summerside area?

Our goal is to find the ideal candidate and give the next person the opportunity to take the business to the next level. There is so much great potential for the right person. We want to give someone a chance to realize their dream so we hope that someone with the drive and passion is looking.

 

9. Can you share a success story or a memorable experience related to your business in the Greater Summerside area?

So many great memories but the loveliest gesture was when Hospice PEI connected with a local radio and we got the opportunity to be interviewed by them about the ripple effect.

 

10. What advice would you give to someone looking to start a business, and why should they choose the Greater Summerside area?

Be honest, sincere and be prepared to work hard. Connect with the local Chamber and as many local government offices for guidance. Summerside is a great community and our population is becoming more diverse, which is a great representation of Canada. What an amazing opportunity for new businesses.
