1. What is your name and name of the business?

Janos Bergman, J. BERGMAN ART STUDIO

2. How long has your business been operating, and how long has it been operating in the Greater Summerside area?

I Incorporated in 2022

3. Can you tell me about your business and what products/services you offer?

Original, edgy, mostly large size paintings, acrylic canvas, in bold, bright colours.

4. What inspired you to start this business, and what made you choose your location?

I have been painting since 1982. I moved to Summerside from the West Coast two years ago and enjoy its tranquility, friendly people and the beautiful nature of PEI.

5.  How has the local community responded to your business?

I am happy to report that my paintings, all originals, have proven to be a big hit in Summerside. My clients, many of them repeat customers, particularly appreciate the fact that the paintings are unique, markedly different from any of the great many local artists here. My clientele appreciates the additional fact that my paintings are routinely shown and exhibited in the art capitals of the European Community countries including, Rome, Venice, Florence, France, Switzerland and Slovakia.

6. Are there any specific challenges or advantages to running a business in the Greater Summerside area?

7. What are your plans for the future of your business in the Greater Summerside area?

Being a very prolific painter, I only envision further growth as my creative process continues.

8. Can you share a success story or a memorable experience related to your business in the Greater Summerside area?

Since 2022 I annually organize a highly successful solo exhibition and charity event here in Summerside with great turnout and results. Last year Premier King sent his Envoy, The Hon. Jamie Fox, Minister, to represent his office. Also included were invitees from the other two political parties, along with captains of local industry who also attended. This year the event took place on November 30th. Premier King and Minister Cory Deagle’s office were represented by MLA Hilton MacLennan who attended on behalf of MLA Tyler DesRoche. I am particularly grateful to GSCC whose ongoing help, support, assistance and friendship are second to none.

9. What advice would you give to someone looking to start a business, and why should they choose the Greater Summerside area?

Before you choose Summerside, dig deep, search and research. Find and identify your primary motivation. Lead and proceed not only with your heart but equally with your mind.

10. Any exciting upcoming project or initiative that your business is working on?

Just finished my 3 most recent exhibitions in Europe. I am looking forward to my next exhibition in Florence, Italy coming up during December 16 – 23rd. International Contemporary Art Exhibition ARTE FIRENZE 2023 will be held in the magnificent, centuries old and prestigious Bellini Museum.
