1. What is your name and name of the business?
We are Chris Blais and Vicki La Rose-Blais. The name of our business is CV Tools Inc. and we are a Mac Tools Franchise.
2. How long has your business been operating, and how long has it been operating in the Greater Summerside area?
We started the franchise in November of 2022. Our business is predominantly mobile and our territory covers the entire province. We have been operating in the Greater Summerside area and over all of PEI since November 2022.
3. Can you tell me about your business and what products/services you offer?
We are PEI’s Mac Tools Franchise. Since 1938, Mac Tools has been known for award-winning, professional grade hand tools, power tools, toolboxes, and shop equipment with brands like MAC, Expert and DeWalt. We bring our fully stocked tool truck all over the Island and will happily add stops into the schedule. In addition to coming to you, we handle warranty work and provide tool knowledge.
4. What inspired you to start this business, and what made you choose your location?
As a red seal mechanic, with over 15 years in the trade, Chris had a lot of experience with tool brands and the tool truck mobile format. Starting a Mac Tools Franchise was an excellent fit.
5. How has the local community responded to your business?
There have been a lot of wonderful shops, particularly those in Chris’ background of automotive, that have supported us from the start.
6. What do you love most about being a business owner in the Greater Summerside area?
7. What are your plans for the future of your business in the Greater Summerside area?
Hopefully we will continue to expand. Our goal is to get customers from the general public and other sectors that use tools. We have everything from Dewalt tools for personal use including yard work tools to very specific tools for specialized trades.
We want to continue to get the word out.
10. What advice would you give to someone looking to start a business, and why should they choose the Greater Summerside area?
The advice we would give to someone looking to start a business is to get involved in the Community. Summerside is great for that, with many social opportunities.
11. Tell us the most unique feature of your business
The most unique thing about our business is that we come to your shop. We also collect and handle warranty work. Instead of wasting time shopping and handling repairs, businesses save vital time that can be used to get their own work done.
