Tuesday, March 31, 2020 β FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CHARLOTTETOWN, PEI – Today it was announced that a number of retired
Chartered Professional Accountants from Prince Edward Island have come together
to form a volunteer group, Island Small Business Mentors, to help Small
Businesses during the COVID-19 crisis. The idea was formed during a conversation
between Bill Thompson of Summerside and Stephen Murphy of Charlottetown. The
group has now grown to eight. Other members in the group include Steve Loggie,
David Arsenault, Lori Pendleton, Stan MacPherson, Michael Murphy and Alan
Montgomery.
There are many issues that small businesses will be facing over the next few months
as they navigate their way through the shutdown, review the various Federal and
Provincial programs announced for small business and position their companies for
recovery. The group, through one-on-one mentoring, feels that they can help those
small businesses that may need assistance at this time.
The goal of the group is to assist those small businesses caught in a crisis and not to
replace any of the services offered by their regular accountant or bookkeeper.
To ensure the safety of all concerned and in keeping with social distancing
recommendations, all advice will be provided through emails, telephone calls and
video conferencing.
If you are a small business owner and would like to reach out for guidance, or if you
would like to volunteer for the group please contact Stephen Murphy at
