March 11, 2019, Summerside PE – The Greater Summerside Chamber of
Commerce is excited to announce that Forward Summerside has a new home
at 201 Water Street.
“Forward Summerside is made up of various organizations and has been
established to better coordinate and integrate our many economic
development activities, identify relevant priority metrics and have a
shared mandate and vision.” says the GSCC Executive Director, Tara
Maddix.
The overarching goal of Forward Summerside is to work better together,
work smarter together and to get on with improving the local economy.
The main floor of 201 Water Street will be shared by the following
Forward Summerside organizations: The Greater Summerside Chamber of
Commerce, PEI Connectors, representatives from the City of
Summerside’s Department of Economic Development, Innovation PEI,
Downtown Summerside and Explore Summerside.
The Forward Summerside group determined that sharing office space
would enable each organizations’ employees to work more closely
together, create efficiencies and allow for some cost-savings
opportunities.
In order to create a functional shared space, contributions towards
the buildings’ renovations were provided by the Province of Prince
Edward Island, the Greater Summerside Chamber of Commerce, the owner
of the building and the City of Summerside.
“This is an excellent opportunity for economic development
organizations to work together to improve the economy in Summerside
and add jobs.” says the Economic Development and Tourism Minister,
Chris Palmer. “I look forward to working with these organizations to
continue to foster growth in the Summerside region.”
