Summerside – At 10:30 this morning, it was announced that tolls for the Confederation Bridge will be reduced to $20 on August 1st. Prime Minister Mark Carney announced during his visit to Prince Edward Island.
Mitch Martin, Executive Director of the Greater Summerside Chamber of Commerce, welcomed the news, stating: “The Greater Summerside Chamber of Commerce is excited to hear about the toll reductions on the Confederation Bridge that were announced this morning. Major thanks to the government for coming together to push this initiative and get it done. We’re excited to see what kind of impact this is going to provide to local commerce on the Island and Atlantic Canada in general.”
The toll reduction is expected to ease the financial burden for travelers and businesses alike, strengthening economic ties between Prince Edward Island and the rest of the region. Local leaders and business owners are hopeful that this change will lead to increased tourism, smoother trade, and long-term economic growth across Atlantic Canada.
