The Greater Summerside Chamber of Commerce board has the discretion to make an award – or not – to a member of the community who has made a substantial contribution to our growth and well-being of our community to date.
This year our award will went to an individual who became the Executive Director of The Greater Summerside Chamber of Commerce in 1996, where he served 15 years before retiring from the Organization. Before accepting the Executive Director’s position, John MacDonald served as a director on the Chamber Board. During his time as a chamber Board director he served on various committees for 7 years.
As Executive Director, he was involved with the startup of the Farmers Market in Summerside, the Summerside Tourist Association, Downtown association and a strong supporter for the Atlantic and The Canadian Chamber of Commerce. He also served a number of years on the Business Curriculum Review Committee at the University of PEI.
